Baloch prepare hostile reception for Musharraf

QUETTA: Balochistan is set for another complete shutter down strike on Thursday as President General Pervez Musharraf’s makes his first visit here since the killing of tribal chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in August.

The Balochistan National Party, National Party, Jamhoori Watan Party, Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Baloch Students Organisation and Anjuman-e-Tajran Balochistan called the strike. The parties also plan to stage demonstrations in front of press clubs across the province against the president’s visit to Balochistan. Strict security arrangements have been made for the president’s visit, and these hindered public movement on Wednesday. The government of Balochistan has announced a public holiday for all schools on Thursday. staff report
